Is Vedic astrology accurate? An honest answer
It depends on what you mean. The planetary positions in a Vedic chart are astronomy and can be calculated accurately. The interpretations are traditional, and scientific studies have not shown that astrology can predict events or personality. Most people find it useful as a lens for reflection.
What is accurate
Planet positions, the Moon sign, the nakshatra and the dasha dates follow from the birth date, time and place and the chosen ayanamsa. Two good programs using the same settings agree to a small fraction of a degree. Differences come from the ayanamsa, the node type and the birth time you enter.
What is not established
Claims that the chart predicts marriage, career, health or the date of events are not supported by controlled research. Controlled tests have not found astrologers able to match charts to people better than chance. People often feel a reading fits because it is general, and because they remember what fits.
Why people still find it valuable
