Manglik check: where Mars sits in your chart
What this page shows
It shows the sign Mars was in, the house Mars occupies counted from your rising sign (Lagna), your Moon sign and Venus, and, for four commonly listed sets of houses, whether that house is counted.
The four sets are: houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12; houses 1, 4, 7, 8 and 12; houses 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12; and houses 4, 7, 8 and 12. Which set a tradition uses differs, and the answer for the same chart can change with the set.
Why there is no yes or no
Sources differ on the houses, on the reference points and on the exceptions that set the effect aside, so any single answer would present one convention as a fact. Here you see the placement and the conventions side by side. Nothing on this page predicts anything about a marriage.
Birth time and the rising sign
The count from the rising sign needs your birth time, and a rising sign is not shown for places very far north or south, where it cannot be calculated reliably. The counts from the Moon sign and Venus do not need it, unless one of those planets changed sign during your birth day.
Frequently asked questions
What does Manglik mean?
Manglik, or Mangal dosha, is a traditional idea about the position of Mars in a birth chart. Traditions differ about which placements count and how much weight to give them.
Am I Manglik?
This page does not say. It shows which house Mars is in from your Lagna, Moon and Venus, and which houses each convention counts, so you can see how the answer depends on the convention.
Which houses count for Manglik?
Sources list different sets, for example the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses, or the same without the 1st or the 2nd, or only the 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th. The table shows all four.
Does Manglik affect marriage?
Nothing here predicts anything about a marriage. Many people with the same placements have happy marriages. If it worries you, talk it over with someone you trust.
Why does the answer change with the convention?
Because the conventions count different houses and different reference points. The same placement can be counted in one and not in another.
Is there a remedy I need?
No remedy is needed to read this page, and we do not sell any. It is an explanation of a placement.
